Home-Start Herts ‘Mark Making’ Event

Home-Start Herts ‘Mark Making’ Event

Local Children and Families charity Home-Start Herts are holding an event to raise awareness of the importance of ‘Mark Making’ (creating scribbles, squiggles and patterns) on Tuesday 16th August, 11am – 4pm.

The event is being held in the exhibition area in Stevenage Town centre and will involve scribbling on the pavement, drawing activities and face-painting.

From our work with families, we are aware that whilst many children have opportunities to experiment with mark making from their earliest years, others have limited experiences for a variety of reasons.

Mark making is a fun and visible way for children to tell stories and express feelings, record what they have to say, solve problems and discover solutions.
Activities such as scribbling, drawing, printing and painting help children to progress in all areas of learning and development, and support them to become confident and competent communicators.
