Global Buyers to meet Region’s Food & Drink Companies

East of England food & drink companies keen to start or increase international sales will be able to meet buyers from 15 countries at an event organised by the Department for International Trade (DIT) in Hemel Hempstead on 13 October.

The Global Food Forum, hosted by Britvic Soft Drinks at its Hemel Hempstead headquarters and run in partnership with Santander and ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), will match companies with the buyers from countries/company type they would most like to meet to ensure the day is optimised for both parties. Countries represented will be the US, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, France, China, Germany, India, Argentina, Japan, UAE, Chile, Australia and Brazil.

The day will also include breakout sessions on improving communications and marketing in these new markets, along with advice on how to pitch to these buyers. These include: Exporting via e-Marketplaces by the Department for International Trade; Helping you achieve your international ambitions by Santander; Exporting to Russia: A Reality Check by Albions Overseas Limited; Targeting the Chinese consumer – by the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC); Global Labelling by Spire Food Consultancy; Branding: Innovation for export by Brilliant Brand thinking; International pitching by Susannah Poulton (DIT) and Understanding the importance of Localisation by Alpha CRC.

Says DIT (East of England) International Trade Advisor Jose Richart, who specialises in food & drink: “This is an amazing opportunity for food & drink companies in the East of England, who would usually only be able to meet this number of buyers by weeks of travelling the globe. They will also be able to find out what countries offer the best opportunities for them and how to take their exporting ambitions further. It’s an opportunity not to be missed.”

The event costs £25 + VAT. For further information email: eastinfo@mobile.trade.gov.uk or call 01707 398 398.

The DIT’s Exporting is GREAT initiative aims to inspire and encourage more businesses to export by 2020. There are currently more than 100 live food and drink opportunities for UK companies via www.exportingisgreat.gov.uk, ranging from an Argentinian company wanting suppliers of tea and preserves to an airport in Mid West USA wanting food and beverage management.
