Every year Hertfordshire family business Beales Hotels donates thousands of pounds to charity and members of staff are invited to suggest causes close to their heart.
This year Group Sales Manager Lynn Marsh-Jones nominated London’s Air Ambulance, after they helped saved the life of her nephew Adam Garner four years ago.
Adam, from Enfield, was involved in a serious car accident on East Lodge Road in June 2013, which caused him severe neck injuries and resulted in paralysis.
However, without the rapid intervention of the London’s Air Ambulance advanced trauma team Adam may not have survived. Medical experts stress there is a ‘Golden Hour’ after trauma that is critical in determining recovery and survival. This was very true for Adam, who was not breathing at the scene, due to his injuries.
“I cannot thank them enough, without the treatment I received at the scene of my accident I would not be here today. London’s Air Ambulance saves lives, it’s as simple as that,” said Adam.
Adam visited West Lodge Park Hotel, owned by Beales Hotels, to meet with his Aunt Lynn Marsh-Jones and London’s Air Ambulance Community Development Manager Christine Margetts, where he presented the cheque for £650.
“London’s Air Ambulance has operating costs of £8.5million each year, all of which needs to be raised through donations. With an average of five critically injured people needing our help in the London area every day we rely on donations to allow us to reach these patients and provide urgent expert attention. I am so pleased we were able to help Adam and the whole charity is very grateful for the support given by Beales Hotels.” said Christine.
Beales Hotels also made donations, as suggested by staff, to many other charities this year including Riding for the Disabled, MacMillan Cancer Support, Help for Heroes and the Mayhew Animal Home.
Beales Hotels is Hertfordshire’s oldest family business and one of the country’s oldest hotel businesses. Handed down through the generations since 1769, to current Managing Director Andrew Beale.
