Maylands Business Centre marks its first anniversary by exceeding expectations

As the Maylands Business Centre reaches the end of its first year, Dacorum Borough Council is heralding its success in nurturing local businesses.

This month marks the first anniversary of Dacorum Borough Council’s Maylands Business Centre.  Opened by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, the Rt. Hon. Eric Pickles MP, the Maylands Business Centre has gone from strength to strength. The Business Centre has proven itself to be a popular and valuable resource to businesses looking for their first premises. Several of the centre’s tenants have expanded and moved on to larger premises, proving the concept behind the Business Centre that with the right kind of support, small businesses can thrive.

The American BBQ Company, a tenant at Maylands Business Centre, said “The Maylands Business Centre has provided us with a base we’ve been able to expand in, a support structure that has helped smooth the transition from home business to limited company, and access to a group of like-minded business people who have provided invaluable advice.”

Cllr Terry Douris, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration, said, “The Maylands Business Centre represents the Council’s commitment to supporting small and start-up businesses to establish themselves and flourish. The first anniversary is an important milestone. I’m overjoyed at how successful the Business Centre has been and we are now forecasting that the centre will have paid back the Council’s investment nine months earlier than we originally planned.”

The end of the centre’s first year also sees the launch of its website, www.maylandsbusinesscentre.org. For more information about the Business Centre, please visit the website.
