David Pitcher has been appointed Assistant Principal of the Academy of Creative and Cultural Industries at North Hertfordshire College.  He was previously Director of NHC’s Community and Health Services Academy in Stevenage, and also had a major cross-college role of leading workforce development, which he retains.

This group of teaching and support staff is developing research projects on the changing face of teaching in the 21st Century,  leading a series of pilot studies on student experiences, digital and e – learning, future delivery of learning overall.

David has the key responsibility for ensuring consistent growth and improvement in the Academy’s performance, involving high levels of student success, and a sustained focus on their achievement of employability and jobs, in line with NHC’s employment strategy.

NHC is a lead-college for the recently launched National Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills (NSA).  This initiative is a new approach to education and training of the next generation of skilled workers in the creative industries.  David identifies a key element of his role as liaising with the Academy, the NSA and employers to improve training, skills and individual employment opportunities.  He states: “The further development of commercial operations that support student experience and give real working practise and potential for employment will be my key focus for the new academic year.”
