Hart L&D Wins TES FE Award

Hart Learning and Development (Hart L&D) won the prestigious marketing campaign of the year award at the TES FE Awards on Friday night.

Hart L&D was launched in August 2015 to help businesses of all sizes to engage with and invest in emerging talent. They work with clients in a range of sectors, including health, retail, tech and the public sector to help them realise tangible business benefits from their investment in apprenticeships, traineeships and other learning programmes. The business is part of the Hart Learning Group – a not-for- profit, which also includes North Hertfordshire College and the Hart Schools Trust.

The Hart L&D client proposition uses a simple image of a bridge to depict what they see as the three phases of business engagement with emerging talent. They use the bridge to help clients think about what they are already doing and how we can help them improve and grow. Hart L&D’s winning campaign included the production of a comic strip that tells the story of how a talent-hungry business might think about using the new apprenticeship levy to find new ways of creating the talent pools it needs.

In the 12 months following its launch, Hart L&D increased apprenticeship and traineeship starts by more than 80 per cent, significantly increased apprenticeship success rates and secured positive destinations for 67 per cent of traineeship learners. From a commercial perspective, Hart L&D increased like-for- like profitability by over £1m year-on- year.

The TES FE Award judges said the project was “sending a message to the sector” about how to make the most of opportunities opened up by the direction of Government policy. They added, “the purpose comes through really clearly, and it is a big catalyst for change.”

Of the award victory, Group CEO Matt Hamnett said:

“We’re delighted to have received this recognition from our colleagues in the education sector. We are proud of the work we have done to build, in Hart L&D, a progressive, inventive and fun emerging talent business. We’re really looking forward to working with our clients to do more and better work in the months and years to come!”

Their victory was witnessed by over 600 people at the award ceremony on Friday night, 24th February. Now in their sixth year, the TES FE Awards bring together the most exciting and inspiring individuals and institutions in the sector. Hundreds of FE providers submitted entries for the 16 categories, which showcase achievement in the local community, employer engagement, innovation in teaching, leadership and apprenticeship.
